During His First Term on City Council:
- He has maintained a balanced budget despite the fact that the City has collected 12.5% less in tax revenues due to the sharp decline in property values over the last few years.
- The City has cut almost $14.5 million from its operating budget.
- The City’s tax rate is currently lowest of all of the full service cities in the State.
- The City’s current tax rate is 7.2% less than 20 years ago.
- He voted NO on Parking Meters and Red Light Cameras.
- He has consistently iterated the importance of building stronger relationships with Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton Regional Hospital as well as Lynn University and Palm Beach State College.
- He voted YES on the new Comprehensive Plan that includes a new Land Use category, Planned Mobility (PM), which allows for more diverse land uses in key areas of the City, including Arvida Park of Commerce. These new (PM) areas are strategically located to promote responsible growth that will contribute to the economic vitality of the City, yet maintain the integrity of single family home neighborhoods.
- He worked to make sure the City purchased the Mizner Park Amphitheater rather than subsidizing a private entity to the tune of $1.2 million annually for programming and $30k monthly for management. Success. Under the City’s ownership, 46 shows were held which paid for themselves overall. The Amphitheater is estimated to be a 4 to 5 million dollar asset to our City.
